Working in a Restaurant is easy.......

Or so they say.


My name is Gary and I have been working in Restaurants, predominantly in Cape Town, South Africa for the last twenty years.

A quick History:

I started at the young age of Sixteen as a Waiter at a well known "truly South African" restaurant. I traveled to the Emerald Isle, where I worked as a Barman, dish washer and cook and found my passion for the Industry. Returning to South Africa, I studied at one of the top Chef schools in the country and over time, gained my BSC (Behind Shop Counter) degree by working in a number of top class establishments.

I am now the General Manager of a beautiful up-market Restaurant, that has been around for over twenty-five years.

This is my passion and this Blog is being designed to write about my stories and experiences through the years. It will also contain educational excerpts, as another way for me to teach others about what it is like to work in this Industry.
